An Oldham man has shared his frustration with the "disgraceful" state a grass verge was left in after it was damaged by a bin lorry.

Ray Croll, a resident of Fox Park Road, said that in late November last year, a council refuse lorry was on the road when it tried to manoeuvre past a parked repair lorry.

The repair lorry was parked while workers were fixing curb stones on the road, forcing the refuse lorry to try and negotiate moving past it.

Mr Croll said the lorry mounted the grass verge and got stuck before it caused damage to the patch of grass and eventually moved on.

The Fox Park Road resident contacted the council to try and get the grass verge repaired, however, more than three months on, the verge has not been returned to its previous state.

Mr Coll said the situation was "disgraceful", adding: "I just want the verge to go back to how it was before.

"We are now three months down the line and no progress has been made to carry out the required rectification."

Pictures show the damage caused by a tyre, which is deep into the verge and becomes a large puddle when it rains.

A spokesperson for Oldham Council said: "We are sorry for the delays in fixing the resident's grass verge issue and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. We will be meeting with the affected resident to offer a personal apology.

“We're committed to resolving problems that residents report promptly. We apologise to all residents for this inconvenience, and we aim to repair any damage to the grassed area as soon as possible.”

Following communication between the council and Mr Croll, remedial works are set to get underway in the coming weeks.
