CCTV has caught the bizarre moment a man 'wrenches' a registration plate from a car in Oldham - and returns moments later for the other.

At approximately 6pm on Monday (February 5) on Hive Street, video footage shows a person seemingly taking a registration plate from a car.

While the offence is carried out in darkness, the person is able to be seen carrying and using a tool to remove the front number plate.

The figure, dressed in dark clothing and bright reflective trainers, then calmly walks away with their loot out of shot.

However, four minutes later, the person reappears and can be seen using the tool again at the rear of the car.

They then walk back down the street, prop the second stolen registration plate against a wall and go back to the car to take any remaining nuts and bolts.

With the second number plate in tow, the person seems to be 'swinging' it in their hands as they walk back down Hive Street.

At 6.06pm, two minutes later, the person reemerges holding what looks like a tool in their hand but doesn't stop to look at any of the other cars.

The family, who did not want to be named, say they want to warn others as they claim a second car of theirs appeared to be "damaged" the next day.

Greater Manchester Police has been approached for comment.
