An appeal has been launched to identify a man after a child was mugged and hospitalised.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers were called to reports of an assault that took place at a tram stop on Kings Street in Oldham Town Centre, at around 4.30pm on January 17.
The force has established that the victim, a 16-year-old boy, had been on a tram traveling from King Street tram stop in Oldham Town Centre where he was speaking to an unknown man.
Detectives believe they both got off the tram two stops later at Freehold tram stop in Oldham.
The unknown man has then taken a phone call and walked down the stairs of the tram stops, and upon reaching the bike sheds they have come across three other men.
The victim was then pushed to the floor before being punched repeatedly and being asked for his phone, and attended hospital with superficial injuries to his face, hands and knees where he received treatment.
Officers believe the man pictured may be able to help with enquiries and are appealing for help to help identify him.
Those with information that could assist the investigation should call 0161 856 8911 quoting crime number 2851 17/1/24, or alternatively contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
