An Oldham church has become more accessible after contractors installed a ‘very authentic’ ramp.
The entrance to Oldham Parish Church which faces Rock Street now has step-free access after contractors at Rowan Ashworth replaced a temporary metal ramp with a stone one.
Vicar Daniel Burton said: “It looks very authentic as it’s totally integrated into the existing stonework. We’re extremely pleased.
“It’s wonderful to have no-fuss access and we’re very grateful to Rowan Ashworth for making this possible.”

On X (formerly Twitter), Reverend Paul Monk said: “Excellent news. This step always was a big problem. Now beautifully corrected, thank you.”
According to Oldham Council, the Oldham-based contractor, established in 1996, completed the work as part of its ‘community give back’.
Last year, Rowan Ashworth won Business of the Year (£5m-plus) at the Oldham Business Awards, beating out the OMC Motor Group and Ultimate Products Ltd.
The contractor regularly works alongside Oldham Council, including on installing greenery and paving on Henshaw Street in the town centre last autumn.
On Facebook, residents thanked the contractor for its work.
Resident Dorothy Dwaytre commented: “Can’t even seen the join… good job!”
Stefan Townrow commented: “Nice job that”, while Barbara Hodgson wrote: “That’s wonderful”.
