An altercation between a group where one person was reportedly seen with a knife broke out outside a supermarket in Failsworth and has prompted a large police presence in the area today.
At around 4pm on Monday (January 22), police were called to "multiple reports" of an altercation involving a group of people outside the Tesco Extra supermarket on Ashton Road West.
The force said it received "numerous reports" that "at least one" member of the group was thought to be in possession of a knife.

Officers responded to the incident but found most of the group had immediately dispersed.
A teenager was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.
One witness claimed they were coming out of Tesco at the time and saw the group shouting at one another.
The woman added: "I just got in my car and left as soon as possible.
"Even though these are kids, it's still scary if they have knives."
Another said she saw a "couple of teenage lads" in balaclavas "running around the car park".
She claimed to have seen one with a "large knife".
"Very frightening indeed", she added.
A third alleged a woman was "knocked to the floor in Tesco" when the group were "running out".
A Section 60 order, which grants police powers to 'stop and search' individuals, is in place in Failsworth until 4pm today (Tuesday).
Increased visibility of police can be expected in the area and map shows where the powers have been authorised, which spreads across Failsworth, through parts of Woodhouses and up to Hollinwood.
Inspector Paul Giannasi of GMP’s Oldham District said: “The additional powers granted demonstrate our robust and thorough approach to incidents of this nature.
“Although this is thought to be an isolated incident between groups known to one another, we understand the impact incidents like these can have on communities, particularly those just trying to go about their daily business.
"Thankfully no members of the wider public reported injuries.
“Anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak with officers out in the area, and we would ask anyone who has any information on the altercation, including knowing the identities of those involved, to contact GMP on 101 quoting log 2399 of 22/01/24.
“Any piece of information could assist officers as they progress the investigation.”
Information can be reported by calling 101 or online by using GMP's LiveChat function at www.gmp.police.uk.
