A woman in her 40s and a teenager have died following a crash in Oldham yesterday (December 23).

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have said that at around 4pm yesterday, there was a serious crash between two cars on Ripponden Road, towards Denshaw.

A 42-year-old woman and a 15-year-old child died at the scene. 

A 13-year-old child has also suffered serious injuries and has been taken into hospital. All three victims were in the same car.

A 35-year-old man, who was the sole occupant of the second car, was arrested at the scene and remains in custody for questioning.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed two fire engines from Rochdale Central and Heywood, along with the Technical Response Unit from Ashton attended the scene and were in attendance for an hour and a half.

GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the car, described as a Black BMW X5, or the collision in the Ripponden Road area of Oldham, to get in touch to help officers their investigation.

Police are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have footage, including dashcam, mobile phone or CCTV/doorbell footage from the area in the moments before the collision took place.
