From barristers and builders to takeaways and restaurants - here's the full list of this year's deliberate tax defaulters who have been named and shamed.

Corporate reports released by HM Revenue and Customers every quarter 'names and shames' the businesses and individuals who have been caught filing incorrect tax reports across the country.

Many are ordered to pay penalties for either deliberately filing errors in their tax returns or deliberately failing to comply with tax obligations.

This year, several Oldham-based businesses and workers have made it onto the 2023 list, the details of which were published in March, June and September.

A builder from Dunwood Park Court in Shaw, formerly of Seatoller Court in Royton, was added to the June list.

Phillip Roy Wells received a penalty charge of £18,371.46 after £28,372.93 amount of tax or duty was called into question between April 2019 and April 2021.

Next up was BQD Ltd, a restaurant and takeaway on Union Street, formerly trading as BBQD, which was identified in March as a deliberate tax defaulter.

The takeaway was hit with a £31,797.06 charge after £50,471.54 of tax or duty was unaccounted for between February 2018 and January 2020.

The director, Hafiz Muhammed Rizwan, was also on the Insolvency Service's naughty list, disqualifying him for six years after he failed to explain whether a series of funds were for the "genuine business income of BBQD".

Alexander James Robin Done of Marland Avenue was also issued a hefty penalty by HMRC.

The subcontractor was slapped with a £18,645.46 bill after a total of £28,796.10 of tax/duty went uncounted for between April 2017 and April 2021.

Meanwhile, a barrister, Robert Michael Kearney of Friezland Lane in Greenfield received a penalty charge of £15,936.23 based on a sum of £35,024.70 in unpaid taxes/duty between April 2019 and April 2020.

Finally, another takeaway, Erin's Express Ltd on Ashton Road, trading as Erin's Express Italian Food, was named and shamed on the list.

The Italian takeaway was hit with a £20,473.34 penalty based on a sum of £55,709.77 in unaccounted tax/duty between August 2017 and July 2021.
