A popular music venue will be hosting the town's inaugural 'battle of the bands' for young musicians this weekend with the winners going on to represent Oldham in a grand finale in Manchester.
Whittles at Tokyo on Roscoe Street in the town centre will welcome several aspiring musicians to its live stage this Sunday (December 3).
The performers are all pupils from various schools across the borough, ranging in age from 10 to 17 years old, and have been selected by Oldham Music Service.

At least six rock and pop groups have been confirmed in the showdown, including Bleach, Sheep in Wolves Clothing, Best of Zest, TJR, Anomaly and Los Mirus.
The youngsters will face off to try to impress local DJ, Dave Sweetmore, who will be adjudicating the event, and for a chance to win a spot at a regional final next year.
The act crowned the winners will represent their home town in the ultimate battle against other acts from Greater Manchester at the Academy 2 in Manchester in March next year.
Bosses at the venue said: "Whittles are pleased to be hosting this year's inaugural battle of the bands for Oldham students.
"It will be a great afternoon and a great opportunity for our own Oldham up-and-coming students to showcase their talents.
"Come on down to support your local students by giving them a fantastic audience to perform in front of."
The event kicks off at 1.30pm and tickets cost £6 which can be purchased via this link: https://www.trybooking.co.uk/CUCF
