Paramedics were already on the scene but due to the nature of the location, emergency services determined the best way out would be in a large 4x4 vehicle.
Oldham Mountain Rescue Team assembled to the scene with one of its "trust Land Rovers" to assist with the evacuation.
The volunteers said they managed to drive "straight to the casualty site" where the woman was safely loaded into the vehicle.
The casualty was then driven to an ambulance in waiting for further assistance.
The evacuation took just over one hour and 30 minutes and involved 15 OMRT personnel.
