A man has been arrested on suspicion of having a knife after he refused to leave a shop in Oldham, according to police.
Yesterday (October 19) afternoon, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) received reports of a man at a shop on Huddersfield Road who was refusing to leave.
Police attended the incident and the man was arrested while a knife was recovered.
A spokesperson for GMP said in a statement: “At around 3pm today (19/10/2023), officers were called to reports of a man refusing to leave a shop on Huddersfield Road in Oldham.

“Officers attended and a man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and a knife was seized.
“There is no good reason to carry a knife and anyone caught doing so will be arrested.

"Greater Manchester Police is committed to removing knives from the streets and keeping communities safe.
"If you know or suspect someone is carrying knife, you should report it to police as soon as possible for their safety and the safety of everyone else.
"You can do so by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency.”
