Health bosses have released an update on the construction of Shaw Medical Centre.
Pictures show construction is well underway, with the building’s frame already standing out from the site on Westway, which formerly housed Shaw Baths.
Work started on the medical centre in summer this year, with work due to be finished by June 2024.
The centre is being built to replace The Village Medical Practice and The Oak Gables Partnership, which are currently in a building deemed not fit for purpose.

Mike Barker, place lead for NHS Oldham Integrated Care Partnership said: “The development of the new medical centre at Shaw and Crompton is progressing well and remains on target to complete in June 2024.
“Everyone involved is continuing to work hard to ensure that we can open this state-of-the-art building to local residents next summer.”
The Shaw Medical Centre will serve around 13,000 people across Shaw and Crompton and offer a wide range of medical facilities and services including GP, community and mental health, diabetes and respiratory clinics, as well as specialist physiotherapy.

There will also be scope for shared facilities with the nearby Lifelong Learning Centre, which provides learning services for adults aged 19 and over.
The original plans for the facility were scrapped by the Oldham Clinical Commissioning Group in 2022 after they were deemed ‘unaffordable.’
The cancellation prompted outrage from local councillors, with Shaw councillor Howard Sykes calling it a ‘massive kick in the teeth’.
Plans were then approved later in the year, with the three-storey building set to accommodate GP practices, dental facilities, and extended primary care facilities.
The site was previously made up of a large car park, along with an electricity substation, pockets of landscaping and open space.
The plans state 48 car parking spaces will be available at the site of the new health centre, including four spots for disabled persons and six electric vehicle charging points.
There are also plans for a space for people to lock their bikes.
As for the building itself, it will have a "functional, contemporary design" and will be a mix of stone block and render finishes.
