Local company Technology Powered Services have been declared the winner of the Business of the Year 2023 and a finalist of the Young Business of the Year at the Oldham Business Awards; a huge achievement for anyone, but most especially a company that has had to deal with issues they’d never dreamed possible when first starting out.

What had seemed like such an opportunistic time to set up a business was soon dealt a devastating blow by the COVID19 pandemic; with the consequences of the disease having such a detrimental impact on all businesses worldwide, TPS didn’t look well-placed to thrive. Technology Powered Services initially suffered as a consequence, the business had to temporarily close and immediately sought financial support to survive. During these unprecedented times TPS kept plugging away at winning small jobs and delivering the excellent customer service they are known for, and as their reputation grew it wasn’t long before they began to win repeat business and were recommended to larger clients.

As Andy explains, “At the beginning we were confident in making the business a success with our ambition and the nature of the industry we work in, but we didn't expect to grow as quickly as we have and completely surpassed the targets in our business plan. During and after the pandemic we were so focused on keeping the business afloat and just managing our finances; to be where we are now is remarkable.”

And what a remarkable journey it has been. Having entered the competition for the very first time this year, to not only be a finalist in one category but to be declared the winner in another is an outstanding accomplishment, a fact that remains ever-present to Andy and the team.
