The heartbroken family of an elderly man from Oldham who 'vanished' a week ago is urging others to trace their steps, saying 'someone must have seen him'.

Family, friends and even strangers have been out searching for Ronald Webster, known fondly by friends and family as Ronnie, who left his home in Oldham last Thursday (September 14).

CCTV footage placed the 81-year-old on Walkers Road in Limeside at 1.05pm and then at Oldham bus station around 2.20pm where he boarded the 184 bus towards Huddersfield.

Further footage shows Ronnie got off the bus at 3.45pm at Huddersfield bus station, but it remains a mystery where he might have gone next.

The footage shows Ronnie left home wearing a blue and grey coat, grey trousers and was armed with his "pride possession" - a wooden walking stick with his army regiment badge on.

Ronnie had served in the 14th/20th King's Hussars regiment of the British Army.

His granddaughter, Paige Tattersall, has stressed while he is "100 per cent mentally all there", he does have a heart condition and usually relies on a mobility scooter to get around.

However, he appears to have left his mobility scooter at home and his mobile phone.

A week on from when he went missing, Ronnie's family are desperate to find him.

In an appeal to the public to keep searching for the vulnerable man, the family said the "days seem to be getting longer" and "one week feels like forever".

Ronnie's daughter, Nikki Webster, said: "One person cannot just vanish into thin air. Somebody, somewhere, must have seen him.

"Please think back as far as Thursday - maybe you saw him on a bus, in a cafe or a pub, sitting at a bus stop?

"In seven days there has been one positive sighting, that's not possible."

Meanwhile, Paige said her grandma, Concepta, who has been married to Ronnie for more than 57 years, is "heartbroken", and Nikki said her mother is constantly "breaking her heart crying".

Nikki continued: "My heart feels like a lead weight.

"God, I'm hoping it's all a bad dream but it's not.

"Please, please try to remember anything.

"Big or small, anything will help."

Describing her grandfather, Paige said he is known to "go and walk about" but that he "usually ends up in a pub and returns".

She continued: "He's never been missing overnight.

"It's dark and wet outside, he must be so tired.

"He doesn't have his chair or a hood on his little coat.

"My heart is hurting."

Ronald is also described as around five feet tall with a few gaps in his teeth and grey hair around the back and sides but bald on top.

Greater Manchester Police are also continuing to search for him and have urged members of the public to keep a lookout.
