A carpet and flooring store in Shaw is offering a cash reward for information after its showroom was ‘broken into’.
At around midnight on Sunday (September 10) a man allegedly broke into Simply Beautiful Floors on Regent Street in Shaw.
Following the break-in, the business published images of the man on social media taken from the store’s CCTV footage and offered £500 for information.
In the images a man can be seen inside and outside the showroom wearing a hooded jacket and gloves. It appears that his face is covered by a mask.
Simply Beautiful Floors has urged anyone with information on the break-in to call the store on 01706 291 902 or contact the police.
On Monday afternoon the business published a Facebook post that reads: “£500 reward leading to conviction of this man. Broken into showroom 10/09/2023 midnight. Police have been informed.”
Greater Manchester Police has confirmed it is investigating the incident.
Several businesses in Shaw have fallen victim to break-ins in recent months.
In July the store manager at Poundbakery on Market Street said “two lads” forced their way into the bakery after breaking the shop’s front shutters with a crowbar.
Manager Nadine Curton said that after 15 minutes of rifling through staff lockers and bags the two men left with the shop’s charity box, containing around £3, and a box of salt and vinegar crisps.
Money is not left in the shop till overnight.
She said the shop has been broken into “loads of times”, adding: “You just get used to it.”
In June The British Kitchen, also located on Market Street, was broken into just three weeks after it opened.
The owner, Vicky, said the offenders destroyed the entrance and shutters forcing the shop to close while repairs were carried out.
Speaking at the time she said: "It's broken my heart to say the least. I'm devastated.”
"I'm truly grateful for the support I've had - the stress and the pain that went into this shop. It was my saviour this shop and it's come to this.”
The owner of Simply Beautiful Floors has been approached for comment on the alleged break-in.
