Temperatures are set to soar this week after a disappointing summer.
A heatwave is in full swing in Oldham, just in time for children to return to school.
After a July and August that felt more like a particularly wet and humid autumn at times, the sun has finally returned to Oldham – and with it, the heat.
Temperatures in Oldham are set to be comparable to those of Faro, in Portugal’s Algarve region, with Oldhamers set for a week of mid-20 highs.

According to the Met Office, this week is set for highs of 25°C, with low temperatures hovering around 15°C.
Luckily temperatures are not forecast to reach the highs of July last year, where temperatures rose as high as 36°C, leading to disruption across the borough.
Today (September 4)
Temperatures will reach highs of 25°C today, peaking at between 4pm and 7pm.
With other factors such as wind speed and humidity, temperatures will feel more like 26°C.
The day is set to be clear, with UV levels set to be moderate, so sun cream is advised. Air pollution is expected to be low. Low temperature of 16°C.
Tomorrow (September 5)
Temperatures will reach highs of 24°C between 3pm and 5pm, though will feel cooler at 21°C due to 13-14mph easterly wind and humidity.
The day is expected to be clear, with UV levels remaining moderate, so sun cream is advised.
Air pollution is expected to be moderate. Low temperature of 15°C.

High of 24°C in the afternoon, feeling like 24°C.
The day is expected to be sunny, with some cloud in the late morning and early afternoon. UV expected to be moderate.
A low temperature forecasted at 16°C.
Sunday, September 10
Highs of 22°C on Sunday, a little cooler than the preceding week.
The weather is expected to be sunny, changing to partly cloudy later in the day. UV remains moderate, so sun cream is still advised.
Low temperature is currently forecast at 15°C.
