A police incident led to the closure of the M60 motorway between Oldham and Ashton for several hours today.
At around 12.30am today (Friday) police were called to reports of a man on a bridge on Lord Sheldon Way in Ashton near the M60.
A 40-year-old man was later brought to safety by specialist officers and negotiators.
No injuries were reported at the scene and one person was taken to hospital.
The M60 between J23 (Ashton) and J22 (Oldham) was closed in both directions while emergency services were at the scene.
At around 5.10am National Highways reported that the incident had been resolved and the motorway was reopened.
A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said: “Police were called to reports of a male on the Lord Sheldon Way Bridge on the M60 motorway at about 12.30am this morning (Friday, July 14).
“Emergency services attended the scene, and a 40-year-old man was brought to safety by specialist officers and negotiators.
“No injuries were reported at the scene.”
A spokesperson from the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said one person was taken to hospital from the scene.
