Oldham’s annual pride celebrations are returning to the town centre this month.
Pride events will be kicking off next Friday (July 21) and are running throughout the weekend.
On Friday, a pre-pride party is being hosted at The George Tavern on George Street from 8pm with cabaret and games being held over the course of the evening.
The Oldham Pride Raffle will also be drawn. Tickets are £1 a strip and can be bought from The George Tavern or from Billingtons cafe on Ascroft Street.
The following day on Saturday (July 22) the Pride Parade will return. The parade is starting at Greaves Street at 12pm and will travel through the town centre before finishing at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on West Street.
Following the parade, community stalls, a youth event, and a staged cabaret will be open to the public outside the Queen Elizabeth Hall until 7pm.
The pride finale will then round off events on Sunday (July 23) with a family picnic in Alexandra Park running from 1pm until 3pm.
A Pride Service is then being held at 6pm that evening at Oldham Parish Church on Rock Street, Oldham.
Chair of Oldham Pride Cllr Louie Hamblett, said: “As new chair of Oldham Pride I have blown away by the support towards the community and every year we hold pride to send that message of togetherness. So many local business big and small throughout Oldham have offered their support once again be it window displays, that have supported the team by putting up pride flags in the windows or by donating goods for two big raffles.
"We're really grateful for the huge support and effort from Oldham council for lending the Queen Elizabeth Hall so we can hold a big indoor celebration of cabaret, music, markets, story time, circus skills and other entertainments, We have a big parade through the town centre and show casing our supporters and sponsors in particular, The George Tavern, Billingtons, Mio Care, Action Together and ABL Health.
“And thank you also to Talking About my Generation, Gaydio, Oldham Community Radio, The Oldham Times and Oldham Chronicle for their support as well and their publicity.”
