More details have been revealed at the inquest opening into the death of a mother-of-three who died in an Oldham house fire nearly two weeks ago.
At Rochdale Coroners Court today (July 5), an inquest was opened into the death of Sadia Shafiq, who died when a fire broke out at her home on Saint Thomas Street North in Werneth on June 24.
Assistant coroner for Greater Manchester North Matthew Cox opened the inquest and heard evidence from police coroners officer Emma Campbell.
She told the court that Ms Shafiq, who was 42, was originally born in Pakistan and was a divorced woman whose last known occupation was as a warehouse operative.
Ms Campbell said a large house fire had broken out at the address on Saint Thomas Street North and that Ms Shafiq was confirmed dead at the scene.

No details were provided as to Ms Shafiq's cause of death or the cause of the fire, as it was explained that a "multi-organisation investigation" is taking place into the fire, which Detective Inspector Andrew Naismith will lead.
No updates were provided on the condition of Ms Shafiq's 15-year-old daughter, who was taken to hospital after the fire and was said to be in critical condition.

Ms Shafiq's family paid tribute to the "kind and caring" mother following her death, saying: "We as a family have been devastated by the loss of Sadia and our hearts are broken.
"She was a beloved mother and sister and a friend to many.
"She was caring and the light of all our lives and will be deeply missed by all.
"We will never come to terms with our loss but we thank the local community who have come together and supported us during this difficult time."
Mr Cox said the court would need information from the fire service and adjourned Ms Shafiq's inquest until October 31, with a review date on September 18.
