A 15-mile walking challenge to raise funds for Oldham’s Mahdlo Youth Zone has been completed by hundreds of walkers and raised more than £10,000.
Mahdlo’ s Three Peaks challenge returned to Saddleworth on Saturday and saw 160 walkers and nine dogs take part.
Walkers set off from The Royal George pub in Greenfield at 8am with the first arriving back at 12.50pm and the last at 4.30pm.
Two runners also took part in the challenge and completed the distance twice in six hours and 23 minutes.
The route took participants to local landmarks including Pots and Pans, Indian’s Head, and Wharmton Hill.
A spokesperson from Mahdlo said the event has already raised more than £10,000 which will go to providing opportunities for young people across the borough.
Since its inception in 2017, the event has raised more than £70,000 for Mahdlo Youth Zone and has created countless opportunities and provided life-changing support for Oldham’s young people and their families.
Last year Mahdlo celebrated its 10th anniversary and announced that it had invested more than £22m to put on its events for its young membership, which has surpassed 26,000 people.
