The cafe within a fish and chip takeaway in Springhead has finally reopened again after "difficult" times forced it to close for years.

Frydays, situated on Oldham Road, said it had no choice but to shut the doors to its cafe three years ago, citing building and scaffolding issues.

While its indoor cafe has been closed the whole time, the chippy remained open for takeaways.

In May this year, Frydays revealed in a post on social media that the "faulty building" was being addressed and rebuilt at long last.

The fish and chip shop then temporarily closed while the works were underway.

However, on June 7, bosses issued another public notice which read: "We really regret that we will not be opening as planned due to project issues running late.

"This has put the build behind an estimated additional two weeks, so we have been advised.

"This has been a very testing and difficult time for Frydays."

The takeaway said it was most looking forward to seeing its loyal customers, and new, when it would finally reopen.

Now, the day has finally come as earlier this week on Monday (June 26), Frydays said it was in a position to reopen the cafe once again.

"We are so sorry this took so long, but it was totally out of our control.

"The reopening of the cafe will be soon after three years being closed", they added.
