Dozens of arrests were made at day one of Parklife Festival.
A total of 26 people were arrested over the course of the day and evening - but police said most had fun, with revellers stopping to take pictures with officers who formed part of the security operation.
They included eight on suspicion of possession of illegal drugs, 17 on suspicion of possession with intent to supply an 1 was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and one on suspicion of dangerous driving
In total 18 were taken into police custody whilst the remaining eight were released and will subsequently be dealt with by other means.
Superintendent Phil Spurgeon, one of the leads for the policing operation at Parklife, said: "Greater Manchester Police has worked closely with partners over the past few months to ensure Parklife Festival has a robust security plan in place to protect the public.
"The drugs and weapon intercepted by security yesterday could have had fatal consequences and the detection demonstrates the importance of what we do.
"We want festival goers to look out for one another and to enjoy the event safely and I'm pleased to say yesterday the majority of people did just that.
"I also however want to remind the minority who are determined to spoil this festival for others that you will be arrested and held to account."
On Friday, Heaton Park was the stage for The Courteeners.
There were three arrests at the event; two people on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly, and one on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.
Two further arrests by officers – one on suspicion of driving under the influence and one under suspicion of possession with intent to supply – occurred nearby.
In conjunction with partners, officers assisted in everything from minor injuries to supporting traffic management in the aftermath of the event.
Superintendent Spurgeon added: “It was a great night with a fantastic atmosphere and it was amazing to see people coming together from all around to enjoy the gig.
“From a policing and security perspective, we are very happy with how the night played out. The overwhelming majority of attendees enjoyed themselves responsibly and had a great time. While we made a handful of arrests, those people were in the tiny minority and did not detract from the night.
“This was the opening act to a busy weekend across Greater Manchester and I hope people continue to enjoy themselves safely across the next couple of days.”
