Police in Oldham have urged drivers to not park illegally when visiting Dovestone Reservoir as visitors flock to the beauty spot.
In a Facebook post today (Sunday), GMP Saddleworth and Lees wrote: “Traffic wardens are out and about at Dovestones and the surrounding areas today.
“Please be considerate with your parking double yellow lines are there for a reason.”
The post included a photograph of a line of cars parked on double-yellow lines with Penalty Charge Notices attached to their windscreens.
The double yellow lines at Dovestone Reservoir were introduced in recent years to tackle the problem parking at the beauty spot which is one of Oldham’s biggest attractions for visitors from outside the borough.
There is legal parking for around 125 vehicles at the Bank lane and Binn Green car parks, but when full, people often park on the roadside and surrounding lanes to the frustration of residents.
