Two Oldham care homes have been rated as some of the top in the North West for the second year running.

Ashgrove House Care in Chadderton and Millfield in Waterhead, ran by the care home provider Anchor Hanover, have been chosen by residents and their families as two of the best care homes in the region and recognised in the carehome.co.uk Top 20 Care Home Awards.

There are 1,799 homes in the North West and only the top 20 receive an award from carehome.co.uk, a care home reviews website.

The awards are based on reviews over the last two years from care home residents as well as their family and friends.

Ashgrove House Care and Millfield were also listed in the top 20 last year and both have a ‘good’ rating from the Care Quality Commission, the official inspectorate of care homes.

Alison Corley, manager of Anchor’s Millfield care home, said: “I’m proud of the achievements of the team at Anchor’s Millfield care home.

“We pride ourselves on the quality of care given at the care home and it’s amazing for this to be recognised. Our 10 out of 10 rating is fantastic and could not be achieved without the hard work and commitment of the team.”

Simon Sumner, director of Ashgrove House Care, said: “I am really proud of the team to have won this award, they go the extra mile in everything they do.

“We have always promoted a family atmosphere within the home and have received many compliments from relatives and visitors, there is always lots of laughter and fun with our residents and family members.

“Care homes have had a tough few years so this makes this award all the more special. Thank you Ashgrove team.”
