A fundraiser has been launched for a seven-year-old boy who was critically injured after being hit by a car in Oldham.

Logan Dissington, who is a pupil at Mayfield Primary School, was involved in a crash with a car on Vulcan Street, Derker last month and left with life changing injuries.

The seven-year-old is still receiving treatment at the Manchester Children's Hospital and is expected to remain there for at least another six months.

Earlier this month a GoFundMe page was set up on behalf of Logan’s family to help raise money for his care with an initial of £1,000. So far more than £4,000 has been raised.

The page reads: “We are trying to raise money to help the family in this tough time and relieve some of the financial burden of being unable to work and stay at his bedside comforting him.

"Our goal is to try and raise £1,000 which will go some way to helping the strain being put on the family, please please donate what you can as it will all help. Thank you."

Logan’s grandmother Susan Dissington said the family, who have requested privacy, have been left “devastated” by the crash.

Commenting on the fundraiser she said: “The more we can raise the more treatment Logan receives.”

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have confirmed that at around 6.25pm on March 30 they were called to reports of a car hitting a young boy on Vulcan Street.
