A fallen tree causing an obstruction on the canal towpath in Chadderton is set to be removed.
The tree, thought to be a bird cherry, fell across the towpath at some point before 1pm on Saturday.
It is blocking the Oldham Way route, popular with walkers and cyclists.
The location of the tree is near to the entrance of the Firwood and District Residents’ Association woodland site, which includes play equipment.

The play equipment was funded by the National Lottery, but vandals have repeatedly targeted the musical toys.
The tree is not the only thing out of place on the Rochdale Canal.
Earlier this month, a canal boating dad spoke of his difficulty travelling on the Oldham portion of the canal due to the volume of rubbish and issues with water levels.
The Canal and River Trust has said its local team is aware of the tree and Oldham Council will be attending to remove it as soon as possible.
Currently, those looking to continue forward may find themselves trying to crouch under the fallen tree.
In reply to a report about the fallen tree on Twitter, the Canal & River Trust North West team said on Monday: “Thank you, our local team are aware and looking to get it removed as soon as possible.”
