A support group which helps adults with learning and physical disabilities and supports their carers has announced it is moving to a brand new venue.
Ambitions Oldham and Tameside has revealed it will be moving out of its Oldham-based premises where it currently meets multiple times a week at either the Bank Top Tavern pub or Oldham Baptist Church.
As of this Thursday (April 13), the group will instead meet at a much bigger and more accessible venue, The Cotton Rooms on Rock Street.
The move is earlier than the group initially planned but said they are "very excited" about starting their new journey with a "bigger venue" that is more disabled-friendly and can serve food and hot drinks.
Plus, Ambitions said it has a "huge dancefloor to have a boogie".
Those who attend Ambitions currently meet every Monday, Thursday and Sunday in Oldham while those in Tameside meet on Tuesdays and Fridays.
The group arranges a variety of activities, from discos to social clubs and trips, many of which are free for carers to attend.
While the Oldham venue is the only major change, and the Tameside schedule remains the same, Ambitions said meeting times on Sunday have been altered, meaning they will now meet at the new space from 12pm until 3pm.
In a post online, Ambitions said: "Can we please just reiterate that this move is for our members and carers purpose only.
"This is not for any financial gain as we are a not-for-profit community group and do not receive government funding.
"We are all volunteers.
"We are very excited to be starting this new journey and welcoming brand new members."
The post concluded: "Thank you for your support with Ambitions and most importantly our wonderful volunteers who give up their time to create this wonderful space and atmosphere."
In a flurry of supportive comments online, people said they looked forward to seeing the new venue with its "nice clean toilets" and "more space" that is wheelchair friendly.
"Well done Ambitions, so happy to see it", one comment read.
A woman added: "Amazing news for the group - onwards and upwards. Growing in numbers means you need to grow in space, so it was 100 per cent the right decision to make the move."
"You're moving to a fabulous venue. Onwards and upwards", another agreed.
