If you're looking for a cosy coffee and brunch date venue with plenty on the menu, this award-winning cafe in Saddleworth has got your back.
Weaver & Wilde coffee house in the heart of Uppermill village has a series of awards under its belt, crowning it as one of the best independent coffee houses and retailers in the north west, time and time again.
Hearing the news that the cafe was once again up for another award, I went along, armed with my trusty housemate Josie, to see if it really lived up to its reputation.
This is what we found.
The venue and staff
Our first impression of the place was that it is beautifully put together.
With exposed stone and brickwork and decor pointing to its locality, such as a Manchester poster and a painting of Saddleworth, it gave off wholesome and cute, indy cafe vibes almost instantly.
That, and it sells its own produce at the shop front with teas, soaps, handmade cards, homemade bread and cake all on offer, some of which, the waitress tells me, is sourced from other local independent businesses.
Supporting and shopping local is integral to Weaver & Wilde and this shines through from the moment you step through the door.
Food and drink
The menu itself is impressively large with so much to choose from - from artisan sandwiches and flatbreads to salads, small plates and an all-day brunch menu.
Josie was very happy with its generous assortment of vegetarian and vegan dishes and was put in a rare conundrum, torn over what to order.
In the end, she went for vegan pancakes with maple syrup and an assortment of fruits, which also came with edible flowers, which were a nice touch.
I was already hankering for an all-day breakfast, seeing as we went for a late brunch, but spied a slight twist on the menu.
The Mexican breakfast caught my eye and I opted for that.
Whilst our breakfasts were cooking, my latte and Josie's oat milk flat white coffee arrived.

We found both of our coffees were rich and creamy, which can be difficult to achieve with dairy alternatives, and were expertly made.
Josie said she really enjoyed the pancakes, finding them sweet and fluffy in equal measure.
However, it was a bit of a shame that the cafe no longer stocked vegan chocolate sauce as she would have been over the moon with that.
Meanwhile, my Mexican breakfast, which was actually vegetarian until I added chopped chorizo to it, plus a poached egg, was incredible.
The breakfast itself came with refried beans and house salsa as well as an 'avo-free' guac.
It came hot and the poached egg was cooked to perfection and oozed all over the plate while the guacamole and tortilla wraps added layers of texture to the dish.
I also thought the chorizo was surprisingly sweet, having been cooked in honey and red wine, which also made it tender and less chewy than the average chorizo dish.
The cost
The bill was a little bit eyewatering, coming in at a grand total of £34 for two breakfasts and coffees.
However, I did tilt the scales a bit by adding the chorizo and egg which came to more than £5 on top of the £10.50 dish.
Besides, Weaver & Wilde offers great food and great service - and it feels lovely to support an independent, local business whose ethos is all about sustainability and ethically-made produce while walking out with a full and satisfied stomach.
Overall experience
We felt right at home in this cutesy coffee house and could have stayed nursing coffee after coffee for hours.
Considering it's sat on a main road, you feel pleasantly tucked away inside - and as an added bonus, dogs are also allowed in and can choose from their own doggie-friendly menu for an assortment of treats.
The variety of different lunches, brunches and cakes on offer means there's something for everyone at Weaver & Wilde.
We'll definitely be back again - so thanks for having us!
