Oldham's favourite 'taste of Texas' restaurant has won another series of awards in recognition of its quality.
The Old School BBQ Bus on Alford Street has a solid reputation as one of the best ranches in the North West, having shot to fame for its tender barbecued food on Come Dine With Me: The Professionals, as well as its 'moonshine' cocktails and impressive Texas-themed venue.
In October last year, the Bus won four Restaurant Guru awards, earning it the title 'best romantic restaurant in Oldham', ‘best burgers in Oldham’, ‘best restaurant in Oldham’ and ‘recommended by Restaurant Guru’.
Restaurant Guru is one of the most popular 'foodie' websites, compiling reviews, ratings and information about establishments from all over the world.
But owner Mark Fairley said the restaurant has "gone and done it again" for two years in a row with another four accolades being awarded this week by Restaurant Guru.
It now has a 'top 10 best restaurant in Oldham' award and a 'top 10 best BBQ restaurant in Oldham' award to its name.
The business also won 'best romantic restaurant' and 'best burgers' for the second time.
The latest awards come as the bus only recently celebrated its five-year journey.
In 2016, Mark began serving up his hot takes, including his viral Eccles 'burger cake' from a specially imported Arizonan Bluebird International yellow school bus from the 1980s.
Eventually, Mark took the plunge and reserved a spot in an industrial estate in Chadderton where the bus could permanently park and although it took several months to bring the vision to life, the Old School BBQ Bus finally swung its saloon doors open for the first time at the start of 2018.
Last year saw the restaurant rocket to fame - adding not only the Restaurant Guru awards to its name but saw the Bus open as a comedy night for the first time, host a wedding and feature on the Channel 4 show where Mark and his head chef, Dawn Draper, only narrowly lost out on the top prize by one point.
Mark said: "Wow. Who would have thought a small food truck would accomplish this? We've made a dream a reality.
"Here's to the next five years.
"What a ride we have had and there will be many more years of exciting stuff we have planned."
