Oldham charity Mahdlo is set to bring its Three Peaks Challenge back for the seventh year in a row.

The 15-mile (24 km) walking challenge will take place on Saturday, July 1 in Saddleworth.

Since its inception in 2017, the event has raised more than £70,000 for Mahdlo Youth Zone and has created countless opportunities and provided life-changing support for Oldham’s young people and their families.

Claire Crossfield, fundraising manager at Mahdlo, said: “We would love to see even more people walking again this year, and as always, your four-legged friends are welcome too.

“For the very first time in its history, we are mixing things up!

“But don’t panic, it’s the same route, the same team looking after you, the same yummy food, the same amazing company the only thing we cannot guarantee is the weather.”

Those wishing to sign up can do so on Mahdlo’s website.

The route takes walkers through local landmarks of Pots and Pans, Indian’s Head and Wharmton Hill.

This year, Mahdlo is opening up the "original three peaks of Saddleworth" to other charities for supporters to take part and raise funds for their causes too.

Early bird registration is now open.

It will cost £30 to walk and raise funds for Mahdlo, or £40 to walk and raise funds for another charity, rising to £45 after April 1.

Those who just want to take part but don’t want to fundraise can also pay the £40/£45 rate.

Those signing up to support Mahdlo will also receive a commemorative t-shirt, breakfast, picnic and refreshments along the route, with post walk food at The Royal George.

Those signing up without supporting Mahdlo won’t receive the t-shirt, but will still get the breakfast, picnic, and refreshments, as well as the post-walk food.
