A man was 'knocked unconscious' by a single punch outside a pub in Oldham over the weekend and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Bosses of the Coach and Horses pub on Market Street, Shaw, have issued a statement on the "horrendous" ordeal which took place outside the premises at approximately 1.50am on Saturday (March 11).
A man in his 30s was punched once in the face, "the velocity of which must have knocked him out as he hit the road", the pub said.
The perpetrator of the attack was allegedly already barred from the Coach and Horses in summer but attempted to gain entry on Friday night before being turned away "repeatedly" by door staff.
The family-owned pub said the man waited outside in his car until closing and the altercation happened when the victim was standing outside.
"A single punch to the head can be deadly and as the lad was unconscious, all I can do is commend our incredible team of staff for the speed and calm they showed with dealing with this horrible incident", the post read.
The owner, Maz, and the venue's DJ even gave the victim "vital first aid" and kept him breathing and safe until the ambulance arrived.
The pub continued: "The lad was still unconscious in the ambulance and once the police arrived, they had to work fast to preserve what had now become a crime scene.
"We have been working closely with the police and have asked for regular updates on the condition of the poor lad".
It is believed the victim is now stable and is recovering from the incident.
The Coach and Horses pub said the incident has "shook us all" but is standing "united" with other local pubs as it continues to work to make Shaw a "safer and better place to be as our pledge when we took over nearly 12 months ago".
Greater Manchester Police confirmed officers were called to the address at around 2.25am on Saturday but no arrests have been made.
The spokesperson said: "Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a disturbance at a premises on Market Street, Shaw.
"A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
"No arrests have been made at this time.
"An investigation is ongoing."
