An emotional vigil was held for a student who died after a horrific car crash.
Alisha Goup was just 16 when she died last month while walking to Oldham Academy, her school. She was hit by a car after a two car crash in which a vehicle mounted a pavement.
Today (March 12), around 150 people were at Coldhurst Community Park on Rochdale Road, next to the scene where Alisha died to remember her.
Alisha's family attended and people paid tributes, before balloons were released and flowers were laid where she died.
A man who introduced himself as a friend of Alisha's brother told the crowd: "I can't put into words how difficult and devastating it has been for the family."
Other organisers described Alisha, who was from Royton, as a dedicated student and praised the community for coming together and paying tribute to her.
One person said Alisha had a perfect attendance record at school and that she "loved studying".
Another organiser called Abdul said Alisha "had her whole life ahead of her" and that it had been stripped away.
Many people were emotional as she was remembered by those who knew her.
At an inquest opening into her death on March 6, police coroner's officer Tracy Bunn told the courtroom at Rochdale Coroners Court that Alisha had died due to a fatal head injury suffered as a result of one of the cars mounting the pavement and crashing into her.
Two men, Omar Choudhury, 21, and Hamidur Rahman, 23, have both been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
Choudhury, of Broadway, Royton, and Rahman, of Tilbury Street, Oldham, are next due in court on April 3 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
