A restaurant and a takeaway in Oldham have quarrelled over their similar-sounding names and have issued notices to clear up any customer confusion.
The Old School BBQ Bus on Alford Street in Chadderton issued an 'urgent notice' on social media on Monday, announcing that it is "the real Old School BBQ Bus" after residents reported confusion over online orders.
The notice pointed to a takeaway of a similar name, Old School Burgers, situated on Old Road in Failsworth where the Old Road Chippy used to be.
The Old School BBQ Bus said it felt like the business "opened up down the road from us" and "near enough has taken our name".
The restaurant also claimed it has been subject to "horrible messages and phone calls" about deliveries when the Bus doesn't deliver food through JustEat or any other delivery service.
"We are one for promoting local businesses but not when you have had your name ripped off, and we are getting the brunt of your bad reviews and grief.
"This is not us. Use the real Old School BBQ Bus", the post concluded.
Old School Burgers, however, hit back saying it has been trading for almost 12 months and said it didn't know "how anyone could get confused" as they are "two different names".
"Here in Greater Manchester, there are 100s of takeaways and restaurants with almost similar names.
"This is not my first business - I have got four businesses in England", the owner said.
The Failsworth takeaway added that it gets in excess of 1,000 deliveries every month, of which 48 per cent are repeat customers.
It said it has an average rating of 4.0 on Deliveroo, 4.5 on UberEats and 4.9 on JustEat.
Old School Burgers did admit though that over the course of the last eight to nine days, their phone line has been "dead" with customers mistaking the Chadderton restaurant for the takeaway.
But it further clarified in a post on social media that it is a separate business "and is not the Old School BBQ Bus, who think we are using their name to do business".
