A woman has been taken to hospital after a crash involving three cars in Oldham triggered a huge emergency response.

At 9.15am on Wednesday four fire engines were called to reports of a crash involving three vehicles on Crompton Way, Shaw.

The North West Ambulance Service was also called to the scene just after 9am and a woman was taken to The Royal Oldham Hospital.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) spokesperson said: “At 9.15am on Wednesday, firefighters were called out to a road traffic collision on Crompton Way, Shaw.

“Four fire engines from Oldham, Hollins, and Ashton fire stations, attended the scene where three vehicles had collided.

“Two adults self-extricated prior to fire service arrival.

“One casualty was assessed by North West Ambulance Service and conveyed to Oldham Hospital for treatment.

“Crews were on scene approximately thirty minutes as they worked to make the scene safe.”
