A popular hair salon has opened in Saddleworth village which promises to bring a splash of colour and 'hair magic'.
Elkie Dee hair salon has been established for more than a decade in Oldham with its owner, Jenna Rogers, kick-starting her business on Ashton Road 13 years ago before moving on to Rochdale Road in Royton.
The self-professed 'hair junkie' said she then made the decision to relocate for the third time into a new salon in Springhead in December last year and closed the doors on her Royton shop on January 28.
Now on Oldham Road above Harrison James Hair Co, the salon opened to the public on Wednesday (February, 1) and spent weeks before giving the space a well-needed makeover and planning for the launch.
Ms Rogers said: "I gave the ideas and just pointed and my partner did all the handy work but it's turned out exactly how I wanted it and more - the clients love it also.
"It's been a wonderful few weeks planning and sorting. It's all gone smoothly so I'm hoping that's a sign of things to come.
"I have loved my first week and I am excited to see what Springhead brings.
"It's my third Elkie Dee base and I have to say I think it’s also my favourite."
Ms Rogers said many of her clients from her previous salons have followed her on her journey across Oldham but she said the initiative to join two salons "under one roof" was sparked out of the cost-of-living crisis.
She explained: "The current climate has changed for everyone and myself and Becky, the owner of Harrison James, worked together at my Ashton Road premises and got talking one day and we thought it was a fabulous idea to start this sort of 'super salon' as there is also a beautician in the building."
She said this means the two businesses work in harmony and "don't have to keep increasing costs" in order to keep up with inflation while offering "amazing hair at fair prices".
"I think it's the future for small businesses in this industry.
"We are all in this together and to work alongside another successful business and know that we will still thrive in these hard times is a really good move and comforting.
"We have gone smaller with the premises but bigger with service and it's a much more personal experience in gorgeous surroundings.
"Elkie Dee has always been about giving a little back so I'm really excited to be able to do more of this now.
"It's working so well and I'm really chuffed I took the risk as the reward is proving greater."
Elkie Dee is also well known for its specialism as colour experts, with Ms Rogers earning herself the reputation of a 'hair wizard' or 'hairgician'.
"I love colour and anything that's different.
"I'm thrilled I have this opportunity because I love what I do.
"I will still be stood behind that chair at 90", she joked.
