A preliminary hearing date has been set for an 'activist' accused of harassing a woman over the course of more than a year.
Raja Miah, 49, of Stamford Road in Mossley, Tameside was arrested on suspicion of the offence, which relates to a series of online posts alleged to be aimed at a woman between October 2020 and November 2021, in July last year.
Miah, who has previously entered a not guilty plea to the offense, appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Thursday (February 2) where a preliminary hearing date of August 9 was set.
District judge Mark Hadfield told the court that the hearing would take place at Bolton Crown Court and that a trial date would be set during the hearing.
Miah has been bailed until then.
As part of Miah’s bail conditions, he cannot contact the woman he is accused of harassing directly or indirectly and cannot mention or make reference to the woman on any form of social media.
In January last year, Miah was charged with harassment and malicious communications, both of which he denied at Tameside Magistrates' Court the following month.
The charge of malicious communications, which was in relation to another woman, was withdrawn.
