Over the past year, proposals for at least 10 houses in multiple occupancy (HMOs) have been given the green light in Oldham.

Now, The Oldham Times has put together a list of all the HMOs to be approved, which can be seen on a map.

The map shows the HMOs being spread out across the borough, with some in Failsworth and on Huddersfield Road.

There are also several in or just north of Oldham town centre.

Here is some info on each one:

Frederick Street

Plans for an 11-bed HMO on the main road were approved in March 2022.

The building was developed for six HMO units, however retrospective planning permission was required to turn it into 11 units.

Shaw Street

Also in March 2022, an eight-bed development north of central Oldham got the go-ahead.

The site sits opposite St Mary's Church and Presbytery, which is set to be demolished.

Ashton Road West, Failsworth

The seven-bed unit got approved in April 2022 despite dozens of objections from residents.

The main concern amongst residents was a lack of parking facilities.

Featherstall Road North

In the same month, permission was given to turn a derelict building which was formally a shop into a three-bed HMO.

There was both support and opposition for the plans.

Hope Inn

At the end of May, plans to turn a former pub into an HMO were approved.

The former Hope Inn, on Greenacres Road, will become an HMO aimed at people visiting or delivering in the nearby business area who want overnight accommodation.

The Old Bill

The Italian restaurant known for its police memorabilia was approved to become an 18-bed HMO in June.

Comments objecting to the proposal were left raising concerns over the HMO not fitting with the area, responsibility over refuse and the types of tenants who would live there.

Oldham Road, Failsworth

In early December, plans were approved to turn a former hairdressers into a coffee shop and HMO.

Next to a post office, the ground floor will be occupied by the coffee shop while the two-bed HMO sits on the first floor.

Yorkshire Street

Around the same time, a 10-bed HMO was given the green light on Yorkshire Street, Oldham town centre.

The three-storey red stone building in Oldham town centre is home to First4Beds and Home Furnishings, but the second and third floors will now become accommodation.

Farmers Boy

The former pub on Huddersfield Road will become an 11-bed HMO after Oldham Council's planning committee approved the plans in December.

Based next to an Asda store, it will have parking spaces at the rear of the building.

Bar Gap Road

A vacant building will become a 15-bed HMO despite objections from many people in the area after plans were approved this week.

Amongst the concerns raised was the fact it will be based near a primary school, which some believed could be a safeguarding issue.
