A homelessness charity in Mossley is set to host a Christmas dinner this weekend where "everyone" is invited to join in on the festive fun.
Emmaus Mossley, which supports 26 formerly homeless people by providing them with a home, work, companionship and individual support, has announced its "big lunch at Christmas" will take place this Friday (December 16).
Every summer, "the big lunch" brings millions of people together across the country to celebrate their neighbours and communities, creating a lasting positive impact on those who participate.
The "big lunch at Christmas" shares many of the same principles, bringing people together to share food and participate in the festive spirit.
However, as the season can be a busy time of year for most, for others it can also feel lonely and isolating.
Emmaus Mossley said the event is the ideal way to keep connected, meet new neighbours and make new friends throughout the Christmas period, plus a festive feast will be on offer for people supported by the charity, Emmaus volunteers and staff.
Those who wish to participate can bring a dish or sweet treat to share or simply join in on the food on offer, chat relax and have some fun.
Hazel Hodkinson, retail manager at Emmaus Mossley, said: “We’re very excited to be hosting our third Big Lunch event of the year this month.
"Our companions, volunteers and staff have a communal lunch every day, so it’s great that we’re able to expand this out and involve our friends, supporters and the wider community.”
The event will take place on Friday from 12pm to 2pm at Emmaus Mossley on Queen Street with no prior booking needed.
