A popular restaurant in Oldham that was nominated for a British Curry Award has revealed it got through to the finals.

Blue Tiffin restaurant on Higginshaw Lane had won the so-called "curry house Oscars" award twice in the past few years.

It won the top spot as the North West's Best Restaurant at the British Curry Awards in 2014 and 2016, and was nominated again in 2021 and this year.

A spokesperson for the restaurant said it was an "honour" to be nominated and that the restaurant deserved to win, "not just for the quality of our food, but because we have been consistent through our journey".

"Most recently, we have made sure all our staff have remained employed with us during the pandemic.

"We are supporting numerous charities locally from small football clubs to more established charities", the spokesperson added.

However, at this year's awards ceremony held at Evolution London, Battersea Park, on Monday, November 28, the restaurant revealed it came home as finalists in the competition.

On social media, the restaurant said it was still "delighted" to make it to the final rounds.

The post read: "What a night.

"We are delighted to have been finalists at the British Curry Awards last night.

"We would like to say a massive thank you to our brilliant customers in Shaw, Royton and Oldham and for all those who have visited from farther afield.

"Thank you to everyone in the Blue Tiffin team.

"This award is recognition for your hard work and dedication and here's to another 18 years.

"Congratulations to all of the finalists and winners, can't wait for next year."
