Oldhamer Nick Grimshaw said he wants to ride the gritter named after him this upcoming winter.
Oldham Council owns a number of gritters used to tackle snow and ice on roads, with some named after celebrities.
Speaking to Anna Jameson on BBC Radio Manchester while promoting his new book titled Soft Lad, the gritter named Nick Gritshaw was mentioned.
Nick said he had never seen the gritter, however he "really" wants to ride it.
He said: "When I come up at Christmas, I want to go on the gritter."
Other council gritters with gritting-related names include Nicole Saltslinger after Nicole Scherzinger and Brad Grit after Brad Pitt.
Nick added during each winter, he gets tweets and Instagram messages about the gritter and was "well up for" riding it.
He is currently on tour for promoting his autobiography Soft Lad and even paid a visit to Waterstones in Spindles last weekend.
The former BBC Radio presenter said the book is full of "coming-of-age" stories about his upbringing in Oldham and near Manchester.
