Plans have been submitted to demolish a former pub in Grains Bar and replace it with three homes.
The site for the planned terraced building is based at the former Bulls Head pub, which sits on the corner of Ripponden Road and Buckstones Road.
The pub has been closed for some years and has now fallen into a "very redundant state" according to the planning statement submitted to Oldham Council by Fisher German LLP on behalf of Wardle Properties Ltd.
The plans look to replace the pub with three terraced homes along with parking and residential amenity space.
The homes would be two-and-a-half storeys in height, with dormers at the rear of the property with a view of the landscape.
Each dwelling would have four bedrooms and three bathrooms along with an open-plan kitchen-dining-living area in houses A and C, while the living area would be separate from the dining and kitchen area in house B.
Each home would also have a garden area, with each garden separated by fencing for privacy.
The planning statement says the terraced houses have a "contemporary design" and will not alter the character of the area, particularly due to the fact the current building offers "no architectural significance" to the area.
The parking area would include eight proposed spaces, with enough space for turning and entry and exit onto Ripponden Road.
Seeing as the site is considered as previously developed land within Oldham's Green Belt, the planning statement says it is acceptable for the land to be developed.
The structure where the Bulls Head was previously based shows a derelict building, with peeling on the exterior walls and parts of the roof missing.
The planning statement describes the building as being in "a state unbefitting the otherwise picturesque character of this rural, residential area".
Reaction on social media amongst residents of the surrounding area suggested the building was now an "eyesore" and needed to be torn down.
Many did acknowledge how it had been a popular pub when open and that it was a shame the building was now in its current state.
The plans were initially submitted to the council in late September and there are currently no public comments on the application.
