There was a huge emergency presence in Oldham yesterday after a police car slammed into a barrier in a serious crash.
Video of the crash, which took place on Ashton Road, shows a police car colliding with another vehicle before veering into a barrier at just before 4.40pm on Wednesday.
The road was closed from Dowry Street to Charleston Street for hours after the crash while emergency services attended to the scene.
The driver of the police car was taken to hospital after suffering minor injuries to his face.
There were no other injuries reported, according to GMP.
A spokesperson for GMFRS said: “At approximately 4.40pm on Wednesday, 19th October, firefighters were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Ashton Road, in Oldham.
“Two fire engines from Oldham and Hollins stations, alongside the Technical Response Unit from Ashton-under-Lyne, quickly attended the scene.
“The collision involved two vehicles. Fire crews worked to make the scene safe and were in attendance for approximately one hour.”
A spokesperson for GMP added: "At around 4.30pm on Wednesday 19 October, we received a report of a police vehicle accident on Ashton Road, Oldham after officers were on their way responding to a separate incident
"NWAS and GMFRS attended, and the driver of the police vehicle was taken to hospital and suffered minor injuries to his face.
"No one else was injured."
