Travellers in Oldham are being urged to ditch their car and instead use park-and-ride services if travelling to Manchester city centre.
It comes as a number of events are taking place in the city-region, including Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur.
In Leigh Sports Village, the Rugby League World Cup Match between Wales and the Cook Islands is taking place.
Extra delays are also expected due to the closure of Corporation Street in the city centre because of roadworks.
