Labour MP Rupa Huq has been administratively suspended from the party pending an investigation after being accused of making an allegedly racist comment about Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng, PA News Agency reports.
Ms Huq is an MP for Ealing Central and Acton, being elected to the position in 2015 after beating out Conservative politician Angie Bray.
PA News Agency also reported that the comment in question about Mr Kwarteng was made at a Labour conference fringe event on Monday (September 26) entitled "What's Next for Labour's Agenda on Race?"
In audio posted online by the Guido Fawkes website, Ms Huq says: "Superficially he is a black man.
Keir Starmer must act over Rupa Huq’s digusting comments at #LPC22 about the Chancellor.

“Superficially he is a black man” because he’s Conservative is a vile thing to say. pic.twitter.com/DtVwYSNN6N
"He went to Eton, I think, he went to a very expensive prep school, all the way through, the top schools in the country.
"If you hear him on the Today programme, you wouldn't know he is black."
In response to this Conservative Party chairman Jake Berry had written a letter to Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer on Tuesday (September 27) urging him to take action.
He had said he had "serious concerns" about the comments and that he hoped "the Labour whip will be withdrawn" as a consequence.
Mr Berry added that Sunder Katwala, who was chairing the event for the British Future and Black Equity organisations, was forced to challenge her remarks.
