A number of events in Oldham have been cancelled as a mark of respect over the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
The monarch passed away yesterday afternoon at the age of 96 at Balmoral.
National guidance from the Cabinet Office was published Friday morning.
Whether or not something closes following the death of the monarch is being left to individual institutions, though the guidance does suggest the country could experience a shutdown on the day of the Queen’s funeral.
The Government is set to leave it up to organisations whether to suspend their business or events are cancelled during the period of national mourning.
Oldham events cancelled so far:
- Oldham Coliseum has cancelled its Friday performance of the Haunting of Blaine Manor. The theatre said: "We are contacting all ticket holders and working with the show's promoter to find a new date. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
- Tonight's Oldham Business Awards are also understood to be postponed until October.
- Oldham Athletic has confirmed tomorrow's match against Boreham Wood has been postponed.
- Oldham College has postponed its Freshers' Fest, which was due to take place from midday. The college said it will provide a new date for the event and "share it with learners ASAP".
