A new independent film which imagines an alternative outcome to World War Two where Nazi Germany occupies Britain is set to feature some Oldham streets and Tameside landmarks.
Forty-Two is an alternative World War Two film set in Nazi-occupied Britain in a 1942 that never was.
The historical drama follows a tyrannical regime taking over the country and depicts ordinary people standing up to the authorities as Hitler's secret police, the SS, swarm in and take over every aspect of British life.
The film hopes to prompt viewers to question what they would do if the UK fell into a "totalitarian nightmare".
And while the film is shot in black and white to give it an authentic '40s feel, it also features some well-known Oldham streets, including outside the Oldham Parish Church and the cobbled streets around Church Terrace in the town centre.
Some more scenes have also been shot at Hack Oldham, a community centre on Yorkshire Street.
Over in Tameside, the main body of the film has been shot inside the abandoned St Luke's Church on King Street in Dukinfield.
Writer, producer and director of the film, Eric Ian Steele, who was also born and raised in Manchester and lived in Oldham before becoming a Hollywood screenwriter, said the town was picked because he thought "its ancient cobbled streets would be perfect for a recreation of 1940s England".
Hack Oldham was also specially selected as Mr Steele said he had worked closely with the community centre before and thought "it would be nice to give something back to the local area".
Mr Steele added: "Everything was conducted under such secrecy that the locals didn't even know we were there.
"We gave a few people an eyeful on a rainy Sunday morning as we filled the town centre with German soldiers.
"It was a surreal experience to see German soldiers near the Oldham Parish church - most Oldhamers had no idea what was going on but as the hours ticked by, a few people started gathering, curious to know about it."
The film is the latest motion picture made by Vamoose Productions Ltd which specialises in genre films sourced in local areas and makes ultra-low budget films that "look like they were made with a million dollars."
Forty-Two follows on from the company's first film, Boy #5, a vampire movie set in Manchester that was also created on a microbudget.
The cast also boasts an impressive line-up with Game of Thrones' Oliver Devoti, Emmerdale and Coronation Street's Allan Nicol as well as Steve Murphy from Shameless and Emmerdale.
And Mr Steele said they managed to wrap up filming in just eight days.
"For a historical drama, this is an unheard of achievement.
"We also got footage of military vehicles and aircraft at several military fairs up and down the country, but the vast majority of it was completed in that one week, which was quite exhausting.
"We have some incredible performances from our cast and some very emotional scenes, as well some grisly practical SFX.
"The film aims to be gritty and realistic and will definitely get people talking when they see what we have in store.
"Once it's released people will definitely be able to spot familiar landmarks in the film."
However, Forty-Two is still in need of special effects, a soundtrack and an editor to bring the full vision to life and since all of Vamoose Productions Ltd are self-funded and entirely independent, the company is now crowdfunding for post-production costs.
Those who wish to donate towards the film can benefit from rewards and can even have their name featured in the closing credits.
