Oldhamers can finally enjoy their very own beach days in the borough now with a 'mega' beach coming to town.
A 100sq-metre decked beach attraction is set to open in Alexandra Park next week.
In addition to the beach, organisers have promised a hefty line-up of entertainment for all the family to enjoy.
The beach, which will be in place between July 23 and September 4, will cost £1 to enter.
Oldham Summer Beach will also feature children’s inflatables and rides as well as a line-up of magic shows, children’s movies, beach games, food stalls and a picnic area with seating.
Some weekends will see special entertainment scheduled for all the family to enjoy.
Kicking off the first opening weekend, there will be a princess theme, allowing children to meet and greet their favourite princesses.
The weekend after have a ‘dino invasion’ where the little ones can have a "roarsome" time interacting with dinosaurs.
The beach event in 2021 was organised by business owner Kris Longshaw, who said that the summer beach will bring smiles to everyone’s faces and is a fantastic day out at a fantastic price.
Mr Longshaw said: “We are proud to return with the Summer Beach and, because it was a huge success last year, we already have lots of excited children ready to return with people keen to have a good day out in Oldham.
“We will be here throughout the summer holidays and there will be so much to do.
"We are able to keep the price down which is even better offering value for families who want to enjoy themselves.
“JK Events was praised last year and the beach went down well so we are looking forward to bringing it back again for the summer offering laughter, fun, magic and entertainment and for the kids, mums, dads, grandparents and more, it’s a great day out for the whole family.”
He added: “Smilie the clown will make a return and each weekend there will be a special guest theme such as the Princesses, Dino Invasion, Super Heroes, Greatest Showman and Abarettes.
"We all can’t wait to meet everyone again at the beach to make them smile and make some fantastic memories.”
General entry for the beach is £1 which rises to £2 on special event weekends.
Meanwhile, unlimited bounce wristbands for inflatables start at £9 and are available from 11am to 5.30pm.
The beach itself will remain open to the public from 11am to 7pm each day.
