A woman from Heyside has spoken of her surprise after her second-hand furniture was bought by Disney+ for the filming of The Full Monty.
The Full Monty has been spotted filming at The Greyhound pub in Royton.
Victoria Armstrong, aged 53, lives in Royton.
The owner of Armstrong’s Fish and Chips in Shaw, Victoria was selling her father-in-law’s old furniture on Facebook after he passed away a couple of years ago.
In March, Victoria was finally able to bring herself to start sorting through his items.
Victoria posted an advert for a sideboard with a table and four chairs at a price of £250.
Victoria said: “This lady contacted me saying she wanted to put a deposit on it and pay for it the week after.
“It thought it seemed a bit dodgy, really. Then these two very polite men came in a fancy van.
“I asked them if she was restoring the furniture, and they said it was for a Disney film – The Full Monty.”
Victoria said she was surprised, saying: “I couldn’t believe it really. Originally I put it on for £250 and she wanted to pay for it – but you hear of a lot of scams going around.
“I didn’t get any more inquiries for it, so I reduced it to £100. I could have got £250 for it!”
Asked if she’ll be watching the production when it is released, Victoria said: “Oh god yeah, definitely!”
The eight-part series will be a sequel to the 1997 film The Full Monty.
The new series will see the original lead cast reprise their roles, including Robert Carlyle as Gaz, Mark Addy as Dave, Lesley Sharp as Jean, Hugo Speer as Guy, Paul Barber as Horse, Steve Huison as Lomper, Wim Snape as Nathan, and Tom Wilkinson as Gerald.
The series will follow the original band of brothers as they navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield and society’s crumbling healthcare, education, and employment sectors.
