Two men were kicked and stomped on by a group who shouted homophobic abuse at Oldham Central tram stop.
At around 9pm on Saturday, May 21, two men were approaching the tram stop when a group of men began shouting homophobic comments at them.
The group then attacked the two men and stomped on the chest of one of the victims and on the head of the other.
The two men were taken to hospital where they required treatment for head and facial injuries.
The group of attackers behind the hate crime are described as Asian men in their 20s who were wearing dark-coloured clothing.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is appealing for anyone with any information on the hate crime to come forward.
DC Morret, of GMP’s Oldham district, said "This was a frightening ordeal for the two men and it should never have happened.
"Oldham Central is a busy tram stop so we believe there may be witnesses who can assist us with our investigation.
"I would ask anyone with information or dash cam footage from the area that night to share it via phone or officers on foot patrol."
Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 9097 quoting 3185 21/05/22.
Information can also be shared anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
