MORE than 40 people have been arrested after GMP’s monthly Operation Avro event landed in Rochdale.
At 1pm on Thursday, April 28 GMP revealed that 45 people had been arrested under suspicion of a series of crimes including burglary, domestic abuse, and drugs-related offences as part of the crackdown.
The town's anti-gang team had detained 10 suspected dealers before dawn with 10 addresses targeted in raids across the town to disrupt the supply of class A and B drugs.
By 3pm officers had also issued 57 non-payment penalty tickets at £100 each as part of the initiative.
It follows the Oldham operation which saw a total of 54 people arrested in the borough, the highest number of arrests out of any district operation so far.
In total, 23 warrants were carried out and four houses were searched post-arrest over a range of offences including drug dealing, burglary, and robbery.
Drugs, cash, and a stolen vehicle were recovered during the operation alongside designer clothes and watches under proceeds of crime legislation.
Police later revealed that three people had been sentenced and nine charged following the day-of-action.
