A WOMAN from Chadderton was fined hundreds of pounds after she failed to produce a train ticket worth £23.20.
Chloe Cowan, 23, of Richmond Avenue, was sentenced in her absence at Manchester Magistrates' Court last week.
In November of last year, Cowan took a train from Sheffield to Manchester Piccadilly, but failed to produce a ticket on arrival at the station.
According to court documents, she claimed that it was on her phone, but that this was out of charge.
Cowan's details were taken at the time, but there was no response to letters which asked for proof of payment, then the payment of a penalty.
At Manchester Magistrates' Court last week, she was fined £220 and ordered to cover costs of £207.20.
